GEORGE J. COTSIRILOS. George Cotsirilos, founder and senior partner of Cotsirilos, Tighe & Streicker, is widely regarded as one of the preeminent trial attorneys in the United States and one of Chicago’s top defense attorneys. During his five decades of practice, he has represented many noteworthy clients in high-profile criminal trials in both state and federal court. Today, he serves the firm as an advisor to his partners and colleagues.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Cotsirilos has played a significant role in the evolution of criminal law, trial practice and attorney ethics. He served as a member of the Committee on Federal Criminal Jury Instructions of the Seventh Circuit. He was appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions in Criminal cases. He also served as one of the original Commissioners for the Illinois Supreme Court’s Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
Mr. Cotsirilos has published numerous articles on litigation, criminal law and ethics issues for a variety of legal publications, including the Journal of the American Bar Association and the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He taught criminal law for several years at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a former Regent of the College.
Mr. Cotsirilos earned a B.A. degree from the University of Chicago and a LL.B. degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
